USAF veteran, WA/DL Capt. Louis Carroll Delzer
December 31, 1936 ~ July 2, 2024
From friends and colleagues, we have learned of the passing of retired Western/Delta pilot Captain Louis “Carroll” Delzer, age 87. Captain Delzer joined Western Airlines 10-07-1968 and retired with Delta Air Lines in 1996 based LAX. He is survived by his daughters and their families.

OBITUARY
Louis Carroll Delzer passed away on July 2, 2024 in Long Beach, CA. He was 87 years old. He was a former resident of Palos Verdes Estates. He was born on December 31, 1936 in Zeeland, ND, the son of Rhinee and Madeline Delzer.
Carroll graduated from University of North Dakota. He worked on the Minute Man Project before entering the Air Force. Carroll was in the first class to fly T-38s. He went on to fly B-52s in Vietnam. In 1968 Carroll was hired by Western Airlines where he flew 727s. Western Airlines was bought by Delta Airlines. He flew for the airlines for 28 years and retired as a Captain.
Carroll had many favorite things: airplanes of course, researching antique firearms, hunting in the Midwest, gardening, the beach, cowboy movies and the Old West, history, museums, animals, classic cars, cheap scotch, crosswords and was an avid reader. He enjoyed all of these and more during his retired years.
Carroll is survived by his sister Jeanne Delzer of NC and his 3 daughters: Becky Hughes of San Bernardino, CA, Tammy Finn of Gainesville, GA and Jill Rose of Torrance, CA, his grandchildren Kerstin Hughes, Franklin Hughes, Sara Finn, Jenna Finn, Kori Jo Finn and 6 great grandchildren.
